SLOW COOL BURN:
A young impoverished 1970’s Miami rock singer and his best friend take a chance on destiny and experience a climb up the path of fame and fortune although they find they have to pay a heavy toll along the way; one that they may not survive.
THESE ARE THE ROLES TO BE AUDITIONED FOR (All roles are currently available):
JADE: Early twenties, white, roguishly handsome, medium build, long hair. As the lead singer of the band, “Jade & the Storm”, Jade is the protagonist of the film. He is courageous, honorable, and dedicated to his childhood friend (and fellow band member) Jesse, but in experienced in how to proceed in his journey to be a rock and roll star. His childhood was impoverished and motherless. His father is a loving, but cynical drunkard.
JESSE: Early twenties, can be of white or Hispanic heritage, stylishly attractive, slim build, long hair. He is the guitarist and the recognized primary songwriter of the group he co-founded with Jade. Jesse is dedicated to his friend Jade, and looks to him for guidance in the band as well as in life. He was a childhood neighbor of Jade’s and grew up with him.
NICK: Mid-fifties, white, aging yet with a pleasing general appearance, father of Jade (who lives with him). He was a once-successful torch song singer of the 1950’s era that turned out to be a “one-hit wonder”. The travails of that early success, and fall, led to the suicide of his wife (Jade’s mother) for which he has never forgiven himself. Nick loves his son, but is now a cynical beer-swilling drunk who works as a used car salesman.
ALISTER STEED: Early sixties, slim, aging with angular good looks, white, English heritage (cockney English accent). Alister is a successful, famous, aging English rock star. He becomes interested (secretly at first - as he attends their concerts incognito) in Jade, Jesse and their band due to the quality of their unique original music. He believes they can write hit songs for him as he has recently lost his ability to write them himself. He also has a secret past that he believes he can make amends for by helping the boys along the way.
COLTON: Early twenties, stocky drummer/hot-headed; a member of Jade & Jesse’s band.
KYLE: Early twenties, handsome, tall, lanky keyboard player, inquisitive, cynical: a member of Jade & Jesse’s band.
