Tony made a wish, and got his Knish

You might have heard about it first at BroadwayWorld.com:
The Broward Stage Door Theatre Company presents the world premiere of Tony Finstrom's comedy KNISH ALLEY! at their intimate Coral Springs Theatre #2 beginning July 10th and running through August 30th.
Then you might have caught passing mention on last week's Mondays are Dark:
Executive Producer Derelle Bunn announced today that, due to reasons of ill health, Jeffrey Bruce has withdrawn from the Broward Stage Door Theatre Company's world premiere production of Tony Finstrom's award-winning comedy KNISH ALLEY!
But now, Mary Damiano at Miami Artzine sits down with playwright Tony Finstrom to learn how this play with the funny title came to make a little piece of South Florida history.

Photo: Mary DamianoThis is something new for the Stage Door Theatre, which is known for its productions of popular musicals and well-worn plays—recent productions have included Neil Simon’s The Odd Couple and Stephen Sondheim’s A Little Night Music. To Finstrom’s knowledge this is the first time the theatre has produced a world premiere play by a local playwright.
Knish Alley makes its world premiere at the Stage Door Theatre this weekend, and runs through August 30th, 2009.
