The Scene for September 3, 2010

September.  When I was a kid, we'd be starting school next week.  Here in 21st century South Florida, the kids started two weeks ago in some places. But even with the start of school, officially, summer isn't over: and the summer theatre season still hasn't quite run its course.

Here's what's playing this Labor Day weekend in South Florida....

New Theatre's latest summer Shakespeare, The Tempest,  plays through September 19. Read about it on the South Florida Theatre Review.

The Male/Female Thing
opens at AAPACT, and runs through September 26.


you still haven't missed...

Promethean Theatre's production of Evil Dead: The Musical at NSU's BlackBox Theatre.  It plays through September 12, but even with two added Thursday shows, it's been selling out.

Fifty Words plays at GableStage through September 12, 2010.

Mack and Mable at the Stage Door Theatre plays through September 26.
