The Scene for September 2, 2011

SEPTEMBER?!?!?!  WTF?? 

Well, the good news is that as we leave the summer season, the 2011-2012 Theatre Season is almost upon us.  While some theatres are starting off early, the new theatre season technically starts in October.

But that doesn't mean there's nothing to see; here's what's playing this Labor Day Weekend:


opening...

The Brothers Size opens at GableStage on Saturday.  This marks the first time playwright Tarrel Alvin McCraney has had a play produced in his hometown.  Through October 2.

A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum
opens at the Stage Door Theatre, through October 9.

The Actor's Workshop & Repertory Company presents columbinus through September 11.


you still haven't missed...

Ron Mangravite's adaptation of Shakespeare' Henry V plays at The New Theatre through September 10.

Promethean Theatre presents Song of the Living Dead through September 10, 2011.

Mad Cat Theatre Company's production of So My Grandmother Died blah blah blah plays at The Light Box at Goldman Warehouse through September 10, 2011.

Song Man, Dance Man plays both Stage Door Theatre locations; Saturdays in Miami, and the rest of the week in Coral Springs.  Through September 25th.


last chance to see...

Six Years winds up its run at The Caldwell Theatre on September 4, 2011.

Andrews Living Arts Studio's production of Angels In America Part 1 winds up on September 4. 

Stage Door Theatre's first play in its Miami Beach series, SUDS; the Rocking 60's Musical finishes its run September 4.
