The Scene for February 12, 2010

I caught the opening night of The 39 Steps last night; I know that Mary Damiano was there, and there presumably were other reviewers as well. As usual, I will leave the reviews to them. But I will say, I enjoyed the spectacle of four actors playing a ridiculous number of roles. It's stupid-funny humor with stupidly improbable too-fast-costume-changes, in the tradition of The Mystery of Irma Vep or Bullshot Crummond, with the fourth wall continually getting knocked down in the process.

Tintypes opens this week at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre, and plays through Feb 28.
