The Scene for July 9, 2010.

I don't know about you, but the summer seems to be flying by for me.  Lots of good things going on; including the birth of a new theater company.  Exciting stuff!

Are We There Yet? is here, at Actors' Playhouse.  Friday is their big Opening Night, and it will run through August 15, 2010.

Secret Order opens at the Caldwell Theatre Company, and runs through August 1, 2010.

Shipwrecked opens at Florida Atlantic University, the next installment of their summer repertory.  It plays through July 24th.

The 25th Annual International Hispanic Theatre Festival, presented by Teatro Avante, opens this weekend and runs through August 1.

Oda a la Tortura (Ode to Torture) opens Friday at Teatro en Miami Studio.  (Spanish, with English super-titles)

Babalu celebrates the music of Desi Arnaz at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts through Sunday, July 11.  Starring Lucie Arnaz, with guests Raul Esparza, and Valarie Pettiford, and dancers Jeanette Delgado and Richard Amaro and very special guest Desi Arnaz, Jr.

Trivia point: while Raul Esparza and Lucy Arnaz are obviously no strangers to South Florida stages, Desi Arnaz Jr. has appeared in a musical in South Florida.  Can anyone name the show and the theatre?

still playing

A Midsummer Night's Dream opens at Florida Atlantic University, through July 25th.  Their summer series always brings in professional actors to work with graduate students from the theatre department.

Stage Door

The Stage Door production of Suds, The Rockin' 60s Musical has been extended through June 13, June 27, August 1, 2010.  (Yes, they have two theatres in their facility).
