The Scene for November 13, 2009

The weather is supposed to cool off, but the Theatre Scene is just starting to heat up for the season. While it's unfortunate that the Sun-Sentinel is still sending out a fashion editor to cover major shows, the Palm Beach Post has finally started covering theatre with the return of Hap Erstein.

Fanny Brice: The Real Funny Girl
, Maltz Jupiter Theatre, through November 22.

Unhinged Theater presents Den of Thieves, through November 22.

The Naked Stage presents Macon City: A Comic Book Play, a world premiere of a new play by Marco Ramirez. It opens November 13 and plays through November 29.


still playing:

David Mamet's adaptation of The Voysey Inheritance plays at the Caldwell Theatre Company through December 13. And despite resemblances, it's not about the Madoff scandal.

Sexual Perversity in Chicago plays at The Alliance Theatre Lab through November 22. Reveiws have been coming in fast and furious for this little company. In one weekend it's received five reviews: it took two weeks for both Florida Stage and Gable Stage to rack up that many.

Actors' Workshop & Repertory Company
presents Speech & Debate at the Kravis Center in West Palm Beach through November 22.

Reasons to be Pretty at GableStage runs through November 22.

Two Jews Walk Into A War... at Florida Stage, through Nov 29.

Flora the Red Menace at Rising Action Theatre runs through Nov 22.

Bubbling Brown Sugar
at the Broward Stage Door Theatre runs through Nov 22.

Henrik Ibsen's A Doll's House at Palm Beach DramaWorks plays through Nov 29.

Laffing Matterz runs Thursday-Sunday at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, through June.

Inanna and the Huluppu Tree returns to the Playground Theatre, through December 20.
