The Scene for October 2, 2009

Here it is; the official start to the 2009-2010 theatre season.

Mosaic jumped the gun with Rock 'n' Roll, but there's a lot of great stuff coming up, including The South Florida Theatre Festival (October 12-26), which includes Naked Stage's 24 Hour Theatre Festival (Oct 12), The Laramie Project: 10 Years Later, and the Free Night Of Theatre (which is offered at different theaters on different days through the Festival period).

opening:

The Marvelous Wonderettes opens Friday night at Actors' Playhouse, and plays through Nov 1.

still playing:

The Glass Menagerie
at Broward Stage Door Theatre plays through November 1. The buzz via Twitter has been very positive; but politics keeps the reviewers away.

Así es (si así os parece) -- So It Is (If You Think So) at Teatro en Miami Studio. (In Spanish with English supertitles). It plays through October 23.

last chance to see

Rock 'N' Roll at Mosaic Theatre closes this Sunday - currently the most-reviewed show playing. Be sure to call ahead; this show is selling out on a regular basis - for good reason!

Take Me Out at Rising Action Theatre also closes October 4th, after receiving very positive reviews.

for kids

Sesame Street LIVE! - Elmo's Green Thumb plays this weekend only at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts.
