The Scene for November 11, 2011

Hope you've been enjoying our beautiful Fall weather; it's been great to sleep with the windows open. You'l need the rest to keep up with all the plays opening this weekend.  The Theatre Season is in full swing.

Here's what's playing on The Scene this weekend:

opening...

Palm Beach DramaWorks launches its new space with the opening of Arthur Miller's All My Sons.  Through December 11.

Mosaic Theatre opens Lombardi, starring Ray Abruzzo; it's selling fast.  And be careful going to their website; it's blasting out a commercial with no pause button, so sneaking onto the website at work will get every head in the office to turn and look at you.  But at least you won't get snagged on Facebook. Through December 4.

The Alliance Theatre Lab
opens Lobby Hero, its eleventh hour replacement of [title of show].  Through November 27.

Forever 54
, the new musical by Tommy Tune, opens at the University of Miami's Jerry Herman Ring Theatre.  You can read about on Florida Theater On Stage.

The M Ensemble opens Radio Golf at the Light Box at Goldman Warehouse. Through December 8.

Thinking Cap Theatre opens Death for Sydney Black at Empire Stage.


you still haven't missed...

Guys and Dolls plays at the Stage Door Theatre through December 4th.

The Caldwell Theatre Company has the critics raving about After The Revolution, Through November 20.

Rising Action Theatre offers a surprisingly strong production of Thrill Me:The Leopold and Loeb Musical. It plays at the Sunshine Cathedral through November 20, 2011.

Zoetic Stage presents Captiva at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts through November 20, 2011.

The Tale of the Allergist's Wife at the Boca Raton Theatre Guild plays through November 20. It features SoFla favorites Patti Gardner, Barbara Sloan, and Iris Acker, directed by Genie Croft.

GableStage's  long-anticipated production of RED runs through December 4, 2011.

Laffing Matterz returns to the Broward Center's Abdo New River Room, for its third season of dinner and comedy.

The Actors' Playhouse critically acclaimed production of Hairspray winds up its run at The Miracle Theater on November 13, 2011. 

The Stage Door Theatre's production of Lend Me A Tenor closes November 13.

Alfred Hitchcocks' The 39 Steps winds up its brief run at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre November 13.


passing through...

The Addams Family plays through through November 13 at the  Kravis Center in West Palm.

The Screwtape Letters makes a stop at The Gusman Center (also known as the historic Olympia Theater) to do one show on Saturday, November 12.

An Evening with Lucie Arnaz
plays at the Aventura Arts and Cultural Center, one show only on Saturday, November 12.


for kids...

Actors' Playhouse presents Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day on Saturdays through November 19.

The Red Thread
returns to The Playground Theatre, through December 18.
